Smile design in Antalya.

Smile design is not a material — it is the planning step in front of one. Photographs, a digital scan and your face decide the length, width and line of the teeth before a single restoration is made.

What the design step actually does

Teeth are not designed on a screen in isolation; they are designed against a lip line, a smile width, the midline of a face that is never perfectly symmetrical, and the way you speak. The digital design turns that into a shape you can look at — and, in the mock-up stage, wear — before anything permanent happens.

It also sets the honest limits. A design cannot move a jaw, and covering a bite problem with ceramic stores up trouble. Where orthodontics or gum treatment would give the better result, that is said plainly, even when it means a longer plan.

How the week runs

  1. Consultation and recordsPhotographs, video of you speaking and smiling, a digital scan and, where teeth are compromised, an X-ray or CBCT.
  2. The designTooth proportions are drawn against your facial reference lines and reviewed with you. Changes at this stage cost nothing but a conversation.
  3. Mock-upThe design is transferred into your mouth as a temporary trial. You see it, speak with it, photograph it, and ask for changes.
  4. Preparation and fittingTeeth are prepared conservatively, the restorations are made, then tried in and bonded. The bite is refined at the end, and the case is photographed for your record.

Restorations, not miracles

Most smile designs here are built from lithium-disilicate veneers, with crowns only where a tooth is already heavily restored. The number of teeth involved is a design decision — a result that only involves the teeth people actually see is often better than one that treats sixteen because sixteen was the package.

What the published evidence says The restorations that carry most smile-design cases are ceramic laminate veneers. In a 2024 meta-analysis of 29 clinical studies, lithium-disilicate laminates showed a pooled survival of 96.8% at a mean 10.4 years, with a technical complication rate of 6.1% — lower than the feldspathic and leucite-reinforced alternatives assessed in the same review. Afterwards

You leave with the shade record, the design file and photographs of every stage. If a restoration ever needs replacing — here or anywhere else — that record is what makes a match possible. Hygiene visits twice a year, and a night guard if you grind.

Why the week matters

The design and mock-up days are deliberately spaced, because a smile you have worn for two days tells you more than one you approved on a screen for ten minutes. Antalya makes those in-between days easy to spend: the clinic sits in Lara, minutes from the beach and about 15 minutes from the airport.

About timings Every figure on this page is a typical range drawn from routine cases. Your own schedule depends on bone quality, gum health, how many teeth are involved and how your body heals — it is assessed and decided by Dt. Koyuncu after a clinical examination, and adjusted if your case asks for it.

Questions patients ask

Can I see the result before it is permanent?
Yes — that is the point of the mock-up. A trial version of the design is placed over your teeth so you can see it in your own face, in daylight, and ask for the shape or shade to change before any restoration is made.
How many teeth need treating?
As many as show when you smile widely, and no more than necessary. That is usually 8 to 10 upper teeth; sixteen is common in marketing, less so in indications. Lower teeth are often left alone and simply whitened to match.
Is a smile design reversible?
Not entirely. Where enamel is prepared, the tooth will always need a restoration afterwards. That is precisely why the design and mock-up stages come first — and why a treatment that only removes what it must is worth the extra planning.
